I read somewhere that it isn't that he hates fanfiction, he used to write it for Lord of the Rings. He just refuses to read any fanfiction written about his works because it might corrupt his ideas or something. It was a while ago, so I don't remember exactly what he said in the interview. >_<

I don't have a skeptical view on mankind. A skeptical view would be that the human race couldn't change
